Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of access to cages and different feed protein on the performance and carcass percentage of local chickens (Bangkok chicken) and broiler chickens (Isa Brown). A total of 100 crossbred chickens with a sex ratio of 1:10 were randomly divided into 2 treatment factors, the first factor was the cage (A) (Indoor and Outdoor access) and the second factor was feed (B) (17% and 20% protein content). Each treatment had 5 replications; each replication consisted of 5 chickens. The results showed that there was a significant effect of the cage factor on the cumulative feed consumption of crossing chickens (p<0.05) while body weight and feed conversion were significantly influenced by feed factors (p<0.01). The cage factor resulted in a significant effect on body weight and carcass weight (p<0.05) while the feed factor showed a very significant effect on body weight and carcass weight (p<0.01). There was no significant interaction (p<0.05) between cage and feed factors on production performance and carcass percentage. It concluded that the production performance and carcass percentage, crossing chickens can be raised in indoor and outdoor cages with 20% crude protein nutrient content and energy metabolism of 2,900 kcal/kg by producing the same carcass percentage.
