Abstract

Beef cattle was a type of livestock that was raised to produce meat as its main product. The growing beef cattle nation in Indonesia was the limousine, simental, and peranakan ongole (PO) cattle. Berkah Setia Farm was a company engaged in beef cattle maintenance and focused on buying and selling. The purpose of this study was to find out the formula that can be used in estimating the body weight of beef cattle and to find out which formula results were closest to the actual body weight in beef cattle, especially PO cattle. The results showed that there was no 100% accurate formula, however, the formula for estimating the body weight of male PO cattle which is close to the actual body weight was calculated using the Arjodarmoko formula, with a percentage deviation of 2.6% while the largest deviation from the actual body weight was the Danish formula with a percentage deviation of 13.1%. The advice that can be given is that further research needs to be carried out with a larger number of livestock and other varieties of cattle to obtain more accurate results and close to the actual body weight.
