Adopsi inovasi inseminasi buatan (IB) pada usaha peternakan sapi potong (Sapi Bali dan Sapi Pesisir) di Kecamatan Kamang Baru Kabupaten Sijunjung Sumatera Barat

Abstract

The adoption innovation of Artificial Insemination (AI) is important for farmers to increase beef cattle production, both in terms of quality and quantity of production. The success of adoption by farmers cannot be separated from the process they go through, if it goes through good stages, the adoption rate will also be good. This study aims to determine the stages and measures of adoption innovation of AI in beef cattle breeders in Kamang Baru District, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra. The research approach was carried out using a survey method and supported by direct observations in the field. The population is beef cattle farmers who have received IB counseling, the number of samples is 50 farmers using the Quota Sampling technique, on the grounds that the sample breeders have adopted innovation IB. Data analysis to see the stages and measures of adoption was carried out quantitatively descriptively in the form of scores. Research shows that beef cattle breeders in Kamang Baru District, Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra have adopted innovation IB through good stages, starting from the awareness, interest, evaluation, trial stage to the adoption stage. Likewise, the size of the adoption seen from the speed, breadth and quality has also been implemented well.
