Performa Ayam Broiler dengan Penggunaan Slat Plastik (Studi Kasus di Peternakan PT. Dinamika Megatama Citra)

Broiler chickens are a meat producing breed with a faster production period compared to other types of slaughter livestock. At the age of 28 days, broilers can already be marketed with a weight of about 1.2 kg. Increased productivity of broilers can be seen from their performance, which can be measured through body weight, feed consumption, mortality rate. One of the factors that affect broiler performance is litter management. This study aims to analyze the performance of broiler chickens with the use of plastic slats for four periods. The research was conducted at the internal farm of PT Dinamika Megatama Citra (DMC) located in Parelegi Village, Purwodadi District, Pasuruan, East Java. Research variables included average body weight (ABW), feed conversion (FCR), mortality, and performance index (IP). The results showed the performance of broilers with the use of plastic slats for four periods obtained an ABW value of 2,441 kg higher than the standard 2,226 kg. The FCR value of 1.72 was higher than the standard of 1.52 and the mortality rate of 7.8% was higher than the standard of 5%, indicating problems of uncomfortable cage environment and challenges in brooding management. The IP value of 349 is good, although improvements are needed in feed efficiency and mortality control.
