Abstrak

Sugarcane (Saccharum Officiarum L.) is a plant with high economic value, especially in developing countries with tropical climates such as Indonesia, because of the high sugar content in the stems. Preparation of seeds and determination of specific location superior varieties is one of the determining factors for the success of sugarcane cultivation. This research was conducted to determine the effect of bud location from bud set and several varieties on the growth of sugarcane seedlings. The research was conducted from July to December 2022, at the Jember State Polytechnic nursery using a two-factor Randomized Group Design (RAKF). The results showed that good germination growth came from the location of the scion buds. The location of the buds has a significant effect on the parameters of the number of leaves and the number of tillers. Kinds of sugarcane varieties had a significant effect on plant height (cm), number of leaves, number of tillers. The VMC 76-16 variety was the best for the number of leaves and plant height parameters, while the GMP 04 variety was the best for the number of tillers. The interaction of the effect of the location of the bud buds from the bud set and the variety of varieties had a significant effect on height growth (cm) at the age of 28 and 42 days after planting. The results of this study can be concluded that the location of the bud eye and the type of variety have a significant effect on the growth of sugarcane plants and there is a significant interaction on the plant height parameter.
