Abstrak

The development of smart farming provides opportunities for integrating technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), sensors, irrigation systems, and precision agriculture, which play a crucial role in addressing challenges in the agricultural sector. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of the younger generation regarding the role of smart farming in the transformation of the agricultural sector. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, aiming to explore respondents' perceptions related to the ease of use, benefits, and social and environmental relevance of smart farming technology. The respondents in this study consist of 30 students who have been introduced to smart farming technology. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have a positive perception of the role of smart farming, with the belief that this technology can enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the agricultural sector, reflected in the highest average score of 4.3. This positive perception has the potential to encourage the younger generation to become more actively involved in modern agriculture. However, the perception that smart farming does not require complex technical skills received the lowest average score of 2.9. These findings provide valuable insights for the development of policies and educational programs aimed at accelerating the adoption of smart farming to speed up the digital transformation process in Indonesia's agricultural sector.
