Kajian Praktek Usahatani Kelapa Sawit Pasca Peremajaan Di Kecamatan Sungai Bahar Kabupaten Muaro Jambi

Abstrak

Oil palm replanting is a strategic effort to increase the productivity and welfare of farmers, especially in plantations that have declined in yield due to old age and are no longer productive. In this context, replanting is an important step to maintain the sustainability of smallholder oil palm farms. This study aims to examine in depth the description of post-rejuvenation oil palm farming practices in Sungai Bahar Sub-district, Muaro Jambi District. This research used a descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach. The research sample consisted of 41 farmers selected by simple random sampling from Marga Mulya Village and Panca Mulya Village. The results showed that plantation replanting was carried out in 2018 and 2019, because the previous plants no longer provided optimal results. After the rejuvenation process, most farmers were of productive age and had more than five years of farming experience. Farm productivity has increased because the plants are in a healthy and optimal growth phase. In addition, farmers also diversified their income sources by planting corn and working in the non-agricultural sector, such as becoming traders, teachers, village officials, and harvest laborers. These findings indicate that post-rejuvenation farming practices have a positive impact on the economic conditions of farmer households. Therefore, sustainable support in the form of agricultural technology, training, and easy access to financing is needed so that post-rejuvenation oil palm farming can continue to develop productively and sustainably
