Pemberdayaan Petani Kopi Menuju Sertifikasi 4C (Common Code for the Coffee Community) Pada Gapoktanhut Harjomulyo Sejahtera Kecamatan Silo Kabupaten Jember

Abstrak

The global market demands healthy and sustainably produced coffee products, therefore the 4C (Common Code for the Coffee Community) certification system is a requirement for marketing farmer products at the international level. The implementation of 4C coffee certification aims for sustainable coffee farming and a balance between economic value, social value and environmental value. Gapoktanhut Harjomulyo Sejahtera is a partner of PT. Olam Indonesia in Jember in obtaining the 4C Certification program by PT. Olam Indonesia. The obstacle in the 4C certification program is that not many farmers know and understand the regulations of the 4C certification system and behavioral guidelines. This is due to the limited level of knowledge, skills and access to information on the 4C Robusta coffee program. In order to strengthen the capacity of Robusta coffee production farmers to meet the 4C certification criteria, a program is needed to empower the capacity of farmers to adopt Robusta coffee cultivation technology innovations with 4C principles. The empowerment activities of Gapoktanhut Harjomulyo Sejahtera are in the form of a series of educational activities on materials and practices of sustainable 4C certified coffee farming. Empowerment activities include fertility testing and soil fertility improvement measures, GAP techniques, PPE usage techniques, organic fertilizer usage techniques, Robusta coffee shade tree planting techniques. The results of the farmer empowerment program show an increase in understanding, strengthening attitudes, and increasing technical skills in managing Robusta coffee plantations. The evaluation results show an increase in farmer knowledge of 36%, an increase in skills of 33%, and a change in good attitudes of 72%. The 4C certification farmer empowerment program must be pursued continuously so that the capacity of farmers locally, regionally and nationally is able to achieve the targets of economic resilience, coffee food security, and environmental resilience in the future.
