Abstrak

Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) is a plant that has high economic value because it can be used as raw material for the manufacture of cigarettes, cosmetics, and medicines. However, businesses in tobacco production often decline, one of which is caused by Plant Pests (OPT) which cause damage to leaves and stems. The purpose of this study was to identify pests in the vegetative phase of the Tobacco Plants in Gayasan TTN Jember Gardens. The study was conducted in July to August 2019. The working procedure in this study was the determination of stations for sampling, insect collection, species identification, and data analysis using the Simpson dominance index formula. The results showed that the pests identified at the Gayasan TTN Jember Gardens were Agrotis iplison, Spodoptera litura, Valanga nigricornis, Setomorpha rutella, and Helicoverpa armigera. The insect that has the highest population dominance is S. litura so it can be concluded that S. litura is an important pest in the N. tabacum plant in the Gayasan TTN Jember Gardens.
