Abstrak

Harvesting is one of the crucial stages in oil palm cultivation, playing a significant role in determining both productivity and the quality of the extracted oil. Therefore, effective harvest management is essential to ensure the harvesting process runs efficiently and sustainably. This research was conducted from November 28 to December 28, 2024, at PT. Herfinta Farm and Plantation, Tanjung Medan Estate, aiming to study harvest management in terms of planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. The study employed a qualitative descriptive method by collecting both primary and secondary data. The results showed that harvest management at the estate comprises four main aspects. First, planning includes budgeting, division of harvest blocks (kapveld), harvest rotation scheduling, determining Harvesting Efficiency Rate (AKP), yield estimation, harvest system, and criteria for fruit ripeness. Second, organizing involves the organizational structure and distribution of responsibilities. Third, implementation covers harvest preparation, harvesting activities, collecting Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) at collection points (TPH), and transporting them to the mill. Fourth, supervision is conducted in stages by harvest supervisors, senior supervisors (Mandor I), assistant managers, head assistants, and the estate manager, along with internal and external audits. A major challenge in the harvesting process is flooding due to the estate’s location in a lowland area. To address this, estate management has constructed a drainage system consisting of field drains, collection drains, main drains, as well as embankments and canal gates. Proper harvest management is expected to improve both productivity and the quality of the harvest sustainably.
