Abstrak

Sidoarjo Regency is known for its superiority in the agricultural sector. The agricultural sector in Sidoarjo Regency is also a fairly important sector in supporting regional economic growth. Horticulture is one of the leading agricultural commodities in Sidoarjo Regency. The success of developing horticultural commodities is highly dependent on the selection and implementation of strategies that are in accordance with regional characteristics. This reserarch aimed to determine the base and non-base areas of horticultural commodities in Sidoarjo Regency. Determination of the area is used as a reference in the development of horticultural commodities in Sidoarjo Regency. The research method used in this study was the descriptive quantitative method. The data in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data consisted of data from interviews with respondents related to the study. While the secondary data used was data on horticultural commodity production in Sidoarjo Regency in 2021-2023 The analytical tools used in this study include LQ-SWOT analysis. LQ analysis is used to determine the base area of ​​​​horticultural commodities while SWOT analysis was used to formulate development strategies. Based on the calculation of LQ value, there were 15 sub-districts as base sectors with LQ value> 1. Meanwhile, there are three sub-districts, namely Waru, Taman, and Jabon Sub-districts that did not have any horticultural production at all. Development strategies based on SWOT analysis include optimizing the use of existing land as much as possible, managing the horticultural agricultural sector with policies that do not interfere with the performance of other sectors, and improving good cultivation techniques to optimize land use.
